May 11, 2007, Newsletter Issue #32: Legal Self Defense Weapons

Tip of the Week

While the debate surrounding the use of guns continues, two other types of non-lethal self defense weapons are available for your protection. These are the taser and the stun gun. While the stun gun must be pressed against the assailant to send its electrical charge, a taser can shoot its charge from 15 to 20 feet away. A major disadvantage of the taser gun is that you only get one shot to hit the assailant before you go through the steps to reset it and fire again. While the stun gun and taser are legal in many states, before purchasing one check with local law enforcement regarding the legality of owning one.
